Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?
GuitarSpider is a one-time purchase on the Mac App Store — the exact price is shown in your local currency. No subscription, no in-app purchases, and future updates are included.
How does the method work?
Each day the app proposes one of the 24 spider permutations. Play it in time with the metronome for at least your minimum (1–10 minutes, you choose in Settings). When it's clean from start to finish, press the green check. Complete all 24, raise the bpm, start again: that's your new level.
Does the app listen to my guitar?
No. GuitarSpider never uses the microphone and doesn't grade your playing. The checkmark is a self-assessment: you are the judge. That's the point of the method — honesty is part of the training.
What does the demo mode do?
It plays the exercise with a synthesized string sound, perfectly in sync with the click — one ascent and one descent, then it stops by itself. Listening time doesn't count towards your minimum.
When does a training day count?
The day counts when you check off at least one exercise. It then appears in the diary with every exercise you completed, the actual time to the second, bpm and subdivision.
Can I change the minimum time?
Yes: Settings → “Minimum per exercise”, from 1 to 10 minutes. One minute is great for reviewing at lower tempos, ten for deep work.
I picked the wrong subdivision — can I fix the diary?
Yes. In the diary, click the “bpm · ♪” label on any entry and choose the right subdivision. The default is what the metronome was actually set to.
How do I start over?
Settings → “Reset all progress…”. It erases diary, days, level and checkmarks (with a confirmation step). Your language and minimum stay.
I play left-handed. Does it work for me?
Yes. The spider trains your fretting hand, whichever hand that is for you: nothing in the method assumes a right-handed guitar.
Is there an iPhone, iPad or Windows version?
Not yet. GuitarSpider 1.0 is built for macOS 14 and later.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. GuitarSpider works entirely offline, makes no network connections, and collects no data. It's available in English, Italian, German, French and Spanish.
